Scottish Country Dancing
Scottish Country dancing is non competitive. It is purely social, danced in a group.
Hoon Hay Scottish Country Dance Club offers a warm and friendly way to spend time learning this social form of dancing. We cater for the absolute beginner to the experienced dancer. The main purpose of the evening is to enjoy yourself while learning to dance.
Scottish Country Dancing is said to be the Ballroom Dancing of Scotland. Back in the day, the people of Scotland gathered together for a ceilidh where they sang, told stories, listened to music and of course they danced.
Today's Scottish Country Dancers continue the tradition of social gatherings for the whole community. Wherever you are, you will surely find a Scottish Country Dance Club where you can go along and join the fun!
You do not need a partner and you certainly won't be left sitting on the sideline as nearly all Scottish Country Dances need at least six people to dance together.
